Lexar Firewire 800 UDMA to a Macbook Pro

So i just bought a Lexar Firewire 800 UDMA and I plugged it into my Macbook Pro i7. It doesn't seem to be reading. I can't tell for sure if its my firewire port , the cable, or just the reader that is messed up. Anyone deal with this problem before? Help me out, thanks!


EDIT. NEVERMIND. i fail for not shoving the card all the way in.

I own a mid-2009 MBP, and run a sandisk fw card reader right out of the box just fine. It should be plug and play.

Do you have another computer that you can use to test the reader?

How's the speed on that vs. a regular USB reader? I just picked up two UDMA CF cards but now I'm kind of reluctant to buy an expensive UDMA reader haha.

I have the Sandisk 800/400 FW card reader and its it fast. At least 3 or 4 times faster then a USB card reader. I will never use a USB card reader again.
