Same, I now use shoulder strap instead. But my main concern was the plate, it moved too much for use on tripod. :(

Agreed. I had my 24-105 attached and the body angled, and I couldn't figure out why my images were blurring on long exposures. Turns out that having a plate that moves on the bottom really screws things up. I wonder if we can just buy a couple of rubber tape and stick it to the top. Maybe that will help.

FS: Nothing for now.

fwiw: I would use some type of rubber coated stair tape on the side that the camera body mounts up to. I believe its called 3M Safety Walk.

Just make sure its the rubberized version, NOT the sandpaper grit ;)

Maybe the best option would be getting a camdapter plate.

Doesn't RRS make a plate that is compatible?

Thanks! :) Will have to look it up at DIY shop. I used some rubberized sticky material about 1mm thick.

Wouldn't that be more expensive?

Yes, it would be, but at least it would work well. I might go to a hobby store to see if I find a solution. Hopefully, they'll have something.

I bought it from Ebay, received it yesterday and I am not happy with it. Though it is very well made but I found it uncomfortable and a pain to use. Tried it for a couple of hours and took it off forever.

You know I almost did the same thing and I think it's one of those things where you have to give it a chance. I had to force myself to use it for a week or so before I decided how I felt about it.

according to minh2pac, dhsummer sells it w/ the new plate. not sure why his auction has the old plate photo. new one looks nice as it has the rubber. currently im using something like this to prevent any twist on the old plate. works great for me. http://www.thefeltstore.com …5C9E4D076&MN=A3849CA81C5D (external link) (its not felt though, just felt store)
what i have is a softer rubbery type so it has a little bit of give when i tighten it.

anyone use the plate with the blackrapid fastenr? the plate is metal, so i feel it should be strong enough. i'd like to have a handstrap ready for the times i don't want to use the side strap and wondering if it'd be safe to put the fastenR in the extra screw slot they have in the plate.

np, i'd email him just incase. i've seen some auctions mentioning the dovetail plate, but this one doesnt so maybe its in a separate auction. hate for you to get the old one based on my post.

e.g. this one says the plate has the rubber

Um you might be wrong..... I just looked at that ad and at the top it clearly says Type 01. Which is the older style plate. I have type 2 which is the newer design and much thicker it seems.

Is there a good tutorial on mounting this handstrap, seems pretty confusing to me! :)
