One of many endorsements for the Cheetah Qbox 24".

I received mine last week and had chance to use it in earnest this weekend.

I was photographing in a finished basement with very little room to move around, and lower than average ceilings. I hung a black backdrop against the lovely 70's wood paneling, put the Qbox on a lightstand to camera left with a 430EXII, and a snooted 580EXII on a stand directly alongside the model, pointing straight at his hat to light it up and stop it from vanishing into the black.

(Facebook hosted pic - B&W per models request)

We had to sit, or his hat would be almost touching the roof :)

I had the Qbox gridded and both diffusers installed - love the control it gives.

The model (and probably more importantly, his wife) - wanted a monotone look, and I like the bluer tint for their particular series. This isn't a final edit, just a teaser shot I posted for them to Facebook, so they will have the option of multiple photos with multiple edits by the end of things.

To keep the thread in the vein I intended -this was posted to be a positive review of the Qbox softbox, not a c&c (or I would have posted to that thread instead/also) - the photo is intended to show the light and quality of light from that product.

Do you remember what your distance, power setting and f-stop were?

Mostly :)

Camera was at 1/250th (max sync on the 7d)
ISO100
f7.1

Softbox was close - probably no more than 2 feet from the right hand side of his face (camera left). I was using ETTL and IR triggering from the 7D, as I was moving it around a lot and changing scene's a lot - didn't want to have to re-meter constantly. I was really impressed with the control from the grid - without it, I was splashing light onto the backdrop, which was only 3 or so feet behind him - with it, very little light went back that far

Without it, the right hand side of his hat was in shade, and would blend into the black backdrop. It didn't look bad, but this looked better.

My snoot was made of card and elastic bands :)
