There's plenty of folks here who would welcome it.

This is great news... I really hope Canon does put out something Oly Pen sized with interchangeable lenses and hopefully with their Digic technology, the AF speed, shutter, live view, etc... will be much faster AND have a usable viewfinder. A new line of smaller lenses to accompany it would be exciting as well.

There are plenty of times a smaller body would be appreciated but Just shrinking the body a little without also shrinking the lenses doesn't buy that much. The Panasonic or Olly coupled with the smaller 4/3 lens makes for a nice package.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

I owned and loved a GF1 for a while. In the end I didn't like their image processing and the RAWs were just different. But if canon made it I'd buy it again in a second. The suggestion of canon making a smaller DSLR instead of an EVIL is interesting... I'd love to see them go EVIL but EVIL means new lenses (and the possibility of your EF/EF-S lenses also working via adapter). Going with the smallest DSLR possible means we keep our lenses, but they'd be bigger than the EVIL counterparts...

Seeing the NEX, I'd love to see a canon APS-C camera stripped to be as small as possible. If it's going to be EF/EF-S compatible w/o an adapter, they better at least make some new lenses for it that are smaller (a pancake or two specifically).

so can we use our canon ef and ef-s lenses on it. IF not then hells no, im not spending more money for another system, you might as well buy a non canon system.

I always thought the micro 4/3 cameras were a joke. They claim they are smaller and easier to carry, but they all still have a huge lens. So putting it in your pocket it out. That means you will carry it just like a DSLR, but a small DSLR will beat it in every aspect.

the rebels seem pretty small already, put a a canon 18-135 or much smaller kit lens 18-55 or 50 1.8 and thats your mini dslr right there.

I agree, sure the size is charming but if it's not pocketable then I'd rather carry a P+S liek the s90.

I love my GF-1. I just don't like the lens selection for it. Need more pancake style lenses!

I'd be down for a canon version that is close to the same size that can use EF/EF-S lenses with an adapter.

Anything that takes the wanna be wedding star mom buyer away from the L lenses and lets the price drop is a good thing.
