I just purchased a g11 on a whim (a good deal). Own a g10. generally been happy with it. I use it as a back up and beach camera mostly, using my dslr most of the time. for those who use both, any difference in responsiveness (shutterlag) or view viewfinder quality? I know g11 has lower pixel density, and hence slightly better high iso performance. should I just resell the g11 or get rid of my g10.

Others may have had both and can advise better. Michael at Luminous Landscape reviewed both and recommended both. However, reading between the lines, there didn't seem to be the excitement for the '11 that he had for the '10.
Depends where you shoot. High ISO probably isn't needed at the beach. Unless you're shooting beach volleyball. ;)
Isn't there a difference in build quality between the two? More plastic in the '11?

edit: beautiful photos in your link! I should ask you for advice!

My choice? I would keep the '10...(but I had trouble when my first '11 failed; internal battery that keeps date and time set and there wasn't a fix for quite a while.)

I would assume that IQ in good light is nearly identical. If I had to make the choice the differentiators for me would be ergonomics and ISO=400 performance. I used to have a G9 that died and replaced it with a G11, both refurbs. The G9 has lousy ergonomics, and the G11 takes that one notch further in the "crap, what were they thinking" direction. Other than the slightly better grip EVERYTHING else is worse, and it does have a distinct plastic feel to it. I am not crazy for the articulating screen either, I tend to suppress my narcissistic tendencies well and don't need to take pictures of myself (though I would admit that it will come in handy if I someday decide to do a macro or close-to-the-ground shot). On the other hand ISO400 on the G9 is usable only for snaps, while the G11 is decent.

G10 has better build quality in the buttons. The G11 has a plastic feel to the buttons. But the pictures are what counts, and the images from both cameras are great. I found the wider view on the G11 more useful.

I have the G9 and G11, and prefer the handling of the G11 because of the swivel LCD. I also have the A620 with a swivel LCD, and prefer that feature. I have used my G9 a few times since I got the G11, and find it more difficult to use because the LCD is fixed. I didn't think that about it for the past two years I've used it, but now that I'm back to using the swivel LCD, I find I "need" it. The G11 image is also excellent, even compared to my G9 at ISO80. The G11 handling is not perfect, since I occasionally press the Menu or Function button without trying. However, it's not a deal-breaker for me. I never got Richard Franiec's Grip for the G9, which many felt was a MUST have addition.

I mainly kept the G9 for the longer zoom, and to use with the Canon underwater case I have for it. However, I feel I may sell it and move on someday.
