hi all
i have been pondering a new computer to do photo presentations with.
obviously looking at the smoothness and speed of the ipad - it was an obvious device to compare it with.

has anybody any suggestions for a tablet laptop with a high quality IPS type screen, that can mimic an ipad for photo viewing

apology if this has been covered - did use search but found nothing

I had a look at the HP tablet/laptop systems but nothing came close. I went for the iPad on a whim and think it has been a great asset to my presentations.

Screen works great but does get mucky easy so watch out for that. A matte screen protector could help. The added benefit is that it can do VGA out so presentations could also be projected on something larger. With apps to edit photos also, could use it to show potential clients also how work could look.

It is a hard choice since there has never been a major market for it before.

Yeah, the iPad looks nice but I gather that it won't take photo editing software -- I'd want at least Lightroom and DPP functional. My current inexpensive HP laptop is small and lightweight but has a decent 15" wide angle screen and does handle those two when I need something done right away.

There is basic editing, crop/levels/burn etc but sadly all via different apps. Forsome reason, no one has got it right....yet. Give it some time and someone will nail it. Also other brands would have caught up. Tablet market is still pretty young.

well i went for the ipad as i too only came across poor laptop implementations with poor quality screens.
just waiting for my eye fi card to come to hook upto shutter bug.

i would not want photo shop or stuff that heavy on it. for me its presentations only with quality and speed and the ability to show-piece work to clients on it for immediate basic appraisal is a boon.
for what it is, it is an excellent device.
i eat humble pie as a while ago i was sceptical about its abilitys, after researching and playing with one - it changed my mind.
