If you do a frame by frame there are several things I notice. First, the laser light is not perfectly parallel to the camera as the line would indicate. It's at a bit of an angle. Second, Before the laser gets through you see a huge data faults, several of them like 1/2 of the frame missing. Some of these are before the laser passes. That would indicate that the card is bad. Third, the line appears before the laser sweeps through the second time. Lastly, either the guys running the show are total morons, or this is a very low power laser. It is clearly shining an many participants eyes and it does not take a lot of power to damage an eye. Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Even if it would be temporary, it can ruin an important shot. Yusef wrote in post #10578176 Well just imagine what will happen to your eyes if you're looking through the view finder while trying to shoot laser beams. (hint: the view finder uses mirrors that direct light through the lens to your eye) This would not really be a problem, since light through the viewfinder is only projected on a focusing screen, not directly beamed into your eyes. Some of my lenses focus beyond infinity...!
