Hi, everyone. I'm leaving for Cuba tomorrow, going there for 7 days. I plan on doing lots of landscape photography and I'd like some tips from you pros out there. Is there any better time of the day to shoot..? I don't have any ND or CPL filters. I'll take any tips/tricks! Be fast I'm leaving soon. Thanks a lot :)

go to the dollar store and buy lots of toys, pencils, etc.... to hand out. your experience will be greatly increased. you can also get lots of freebees if you know the bartender.

also, don't buy the cigars at the hotel, motel, resort, convenience store, etc....buy from the duty free shop.

The ND effect can partially be captured with HDR. Bring your tripod and try bracketing a few stops. This may help you get those beautiful sunset captures.

Sunrise and Sunset are the best times to shoot [weather permitting].

Muskyhunter gave a very good tip. Don't forget to buy pencils, tee-shirts, toothbrushes ... before leaving for Cuba. Most of the people there are very poor and they will sure appreciate a little help.

For a photographer Cuba is a little paradise. Beautiful landscapes everywhere on the island, marvelous cities (especially the Old-Havana, Trinidad, Santiago de Cuba) and friendly people that usually love to be taken in photos.

If you can, try to rent a car. Driving is easy and you won't have to bother about the lack of public transportation. Try also to avoid the hotels, that aren't top-notch and are all under control of the army, prefer to go in some Casa Particular. Some of them are located in beautiful old spanish palaces and you also will have the opportunity to talk with your cuban host and receive very good advices about the place.
