What do you all think of Promaster light stands? I am looking for something in expensive (around $20). My local camera store has the Promaster LS-1 but I cannot find any reviews on them. B&H has an Impact stand for $20 with tons of great reviews but if I can buy locally that would be better. These are going to be used with Speedlites. Thanks!

Just about anything will work for speedlites. I would still suggest useing sand bags. But for the weight of a speed light I would not worry to much. Dont get the cheepest ones you can find. They are the cheapest for a reason.

If you know you'll only using them for speedlights, then it should be fine. But if you know you'll be expanding to using softboxes with strobes, etc, outdoors, then you may want to go with heavy duty, air cushioned stands with a wide base stands.

Yep, only ever going to use them for Speedlites. I have white lightnings with their heavy duty 13 ft. air cushioned stands. I just need something small and portable to easily move around during a wedding reception.

If you want them for event work like that, I would spend the money and get the Cheetah stands. The legs collapse on pick up and auto deploy on set down. That makes it so easy to move around and set up in a crowd. WELL worth the money!
