Sound off!

I voted no - although a slideshow with adequate music could work well.

I voted no ... due to load times (some still are on slower connections), and the distraction that it causes. I particularly don't like it when it's forced upon you. If there is a slide show, that is click-able ... and people want to add music to it (with a choice to turn off) ... then I am better with that!

Just my $0.02 worth! :)

A definite no for me. I look at it this way, music has different genre for a reason....different tastes. So chances are that you'll find music that everyone that goes to your site would like would be slim to none. By having no music at all, there is nothing for anyone to not like.

I think for family snaps, you are correct. I have seen way too many portfolio sites with crappy new age music with the volume at maximum. I will forget my speakers are even on and then I get blasted by marimbas.

I say no, im in a office sometimes and if my speakers are accidently turned up the last thing I want is some music blarring when its quiet. I enjoy my choice of music when I am at home, not whatever some developer decided works.

I'm listening to my own music when I'm on the computer. When someone's website BLASTS my ears with their version of muzak, I'm out as quickly as possible. vmad

I do not go to photo galleries to hear music! I mean, how many photographers actually sing to potential clients while they browse the portfolio? If you wouldn't do it in person, don't do it online.

I say no, I don't like it. The photograph should speak (or sing) for itself.

I'm really glad my keyboard has a mute speaker key.

Now look at how many sites in the Show me your photo blog thread have music!
Hopefully they will see this poll and rethink the use of music.
