Ran across this today and thought I would share it with everyone. I think it's what we strive for, and that's capturing a moment of time and allowing that image to speak for itself.

I was recently making a charitable donation and the man that came to get the items and we started talking photography. Turns out the guy does work recording images to aid in the constant search for donations and funding. At one point I asked him if he ever shot video, thinking it would be an easier media to get peoples interest, it seems more graphic and involving, it might bring a greater response from the potential contributers.
No, he said, A photograph in a brochure sits on the desk and the contributor can look at it a hundred times easily, inspect it's details, take time to absorb it's meaning. Video goes in the computer, plays, and is removed to sit as a DVD on the shelf. no second look, no time to get the feelings being depicted, no seeing it over and over until it hits a nerve.
Still photo's get the emotions across, those definitely do. Thanks for the link
