I didn't even know I had to do anything to this holder for my tokina 11-16mm, but I guess so. I've come from X-pros being used on my sigma 12-24mm so I'm used to having to work for my filters, but I kinda assumed this would be easy and work.

Anyway, here's how the filter looks when you get it:

if you shoot it that way on an 11-16mm @ 11 you'll see the very ends of the holder in the shot. Of course this is why they make the holder "modular" so you can remove some of the front pieces, but I was taking the whole thing apart w/o getting where I wanted it when I realized you can flip the ring to the inside. Like this:

once you do that, you're down to "only" 2 slots on the holder, but personally all my non grads are round filters anyway, so not a problem. Once I had that sorted I figured I'd sand down the metal screws to be as short as possible and also flip one of the plastic pins then sand them down as well to keep the back flush:

I'll have a video up of me removing the pieces, I did it sitting in front of the camera. Took <3 minutes which included me spending time showing the steps to the camera and not just working. It's super easy to do.

Thanks again Ben

Ive seen this done on other threads and forums

instead of sanding the screws down you could have removed the holder from the front and added them to the back.

That way you wouldn't have protruding thread and you could add the holder back to the front if and when you needed to.

yes, but, I will NEVER need more than 2 panel filters in the front (my CP and ND are both 77s and thread on the front of the lens BEFORE this rig, plus I don't use them all that often) and that also looks mickey mouse. The other consideration was to buy NEW hardware that was shorter and with real nuts and just leave the longer set in a baggie with the spare parts. But I don't see myself ever using more than 2 filters so I'm not concerned (I've been shooting with filters for years and never used more than 2 panels).

Basically, I switched from Xs to Zs to save space/weight and to also have more filter options. Once moving parts around, there was no way I wasn't "trimming the fat". :)

I was playing around and I also figured that out a while ago but I just reverse the screws. You must be a great guy to document all that and take photos and videos for the forum. That is what I like about P.O.T.N., members like you sharing and helping.

Thank you for the suggestion of sanding down the pins. I've had mine set up with the adapter through the front but hadn't thought about the pins possibly getting in the way. I've now grinded them a bit with my Dremel tool and glued (epoxy) them in place.

I am curious though why you're only running 2 slots. In my testing, I was able to run 3 at 10mm f/11 with a Sigma 10-20mm. I even tried screwing in a 5mm CPL and it didn't vignette.

Thanks again for posting this. :D
