I own the 50 f2 makro planar, not the f1.4.
The biggest difference is the MP will give excellent, sharp images from minimum focal distance to portrait distances, while this is a more challenging focal range for the f1.4. The MP is a floating element design that allows much better performance at much closer focal ranges. The vast majority of the approx 320 degree focal ring rotation covers macro distances. Those that use the f1.4 for mid-longer distances, like landscape, seem to really enjoy this lens. However I use the 50 MP for landscapes, and am really impressed with it. I owned a Canon 50 f1.4 for several years and was never impressed with it.

I think the bokeh on the 50 f2 is quite smooth
