I just recieved a used nifty fifty from a member on here and while playing with it today I noticed it was having aperture problems. The aperture seems to be sticking a lot. For instance when the aperture is set at f/22 it may only stop down to what looks like f/2.8.
Is this a common issue with this lens or did I just get a bad copy? I am guessing this is something that I couldn't/shouldn't try figing myself and would imagine that it would cost more than the lens is worth to send it to Canon to get it fixed.

I have contacted the seller, so hopefully he will make this right:confused:

Photography is like a drug and I think I need an intervention.

I am not a fan of buying used, unless it is with guarantees attached--in other words, unless I'm buying in person and have personally checked it out... paypal via credit card (NO GIFT) is the only way I pay. If you notice something is wrong, you should be able to send it back for the full amount.

The nifty fifty is so cheap that you should have honestly just bought it new... I've bought several copies from retailers for $75-$85.

By the way, no warranty unless you can provide a receipt. The MINIMUM amount they'll charge for working on your lens is like $70.... so no, it's not worth having it sent in when you can just buy a new one and have a 1-year warranty attached. You can always sell the junker off for $50 "as is".

Well it appears that the aperture is sticking from all the oil that is on the blades. The seller has agreed to refund my money and I will return the lens to him. It sucks because I waited 3 or 4 days for USPS to bring this to me and now I can't use it.
