well, since you're considering the 17-40mm on crop, it's very clear you're a canon guy then right? No offense, but the non FF specific lenses are much better mid range zooms than the 17-40 on FF. The 17-40mm is for a 5D what the 10-22 is for a cropper.

Sorry, I was referring to Shadowblade's comment about the 16-35 vs 17-40, not that I was getting a 17-40 for my 20D. I was trying to make the point that the % difference between 35 & 40, is much less than 16 & 22, which makes the 2x price difference harder to swallow. It was just as important for me to gain the 6mm on the long end as it was to gain 1 on the wide.
I'd probably get the 24-70 or 24-105 for a better mid-range lens than I have now. This again would help lower my lens overlap to only 2mm from my current 6mm.
