Having had the term 'stock' used in a reply in a different thread, I went looking for my old stock agency (they never write :-)) and came across a fabulous piece of writing from Edmund Nägele, FRPS (headed The Getty Contract).

Apologies if this has surfaced elsewhere in the forum, but anyone who sells their pictures should have a read of: http://www.nagele.co.uk/Stockphotochat/monkeys.htm (external link) (I'm unsure of the date of this piece and, although Nägele is aiming at Getty, it's very good advice).

Yes, very interesting. :-)

I like the suggestion in the article. I think that POTN would be an ideal place to put a plan into action, considering how many people visit this place.

How might we go about starting the suggested stock image revolution? Or if not that, how about POTN starting its own stock image library?

Well, this thread has really taken off!

Oh well, maybe threads that offer an easy argument over inconclusive, subjective and irrelevant matters are the place to be . . . .

It would be good to see a communal stock agency, has anyone ever tried that before?
