Non-photo file recovery tools?

A coworker pulled a bunch of stuff off a thumb drive to her PC, only it turns out she actually just created short cuts of all the files. She then deleted the thumb drive. Are there recovery tools that work with thumb drives and will recover non-photo data?

There are a number of file recovery tools available. I don't have any one in particular to recommend, but if you google it, you'll see reviews on them.

One thing I want to mention is make sure she doesn't use the thumb drive for the time being because she could overwrite the previous data, making them unrecoverable. As long as she doesn't use it, there's a good chance of recovering the files.

I've used it. Pretty simple gui but it works. Just give it the extention you are looking for. i.e. avi jpg doc
