I'm a fan of those charcoal chimneys. Been using them for years. No more chemical residue for me. Use to burn them up in a season until I found the stainless steel ones. Those last forever.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

So Dan is at the chinese place picking up dinner. I just got a photo text of the underside of a catfish saying "this fish sucks". Sometimes I feel like I did when I first met him and looked "askance" at his weirdness.:lol:

update:
Head is stuffed. coughing. Feel cruddy. (no more barfing though so that's good) Have rendezvoused with Nettie 2x already today. :|

we use gas because it's fast. But I prefer food cooked over wood embers. Thing is, it's not something that is really an option that I know of. Just something we used to do when we were camping (when I was a child).

Yes you use a little bit of paper in the bottom. It then doesn't taste like lighter fluid and is cleaner. It also gets the coal ready faster. You dump the coals in I dunno, 15 minutes or so.

Finally found lump charcoal, trying it tonight for our venison steaks and baby carrots. And Zane, I finally got a starter chimney been using it for a few weeks. Won't go back to lighter fluid again.:D

Definitely the way to go with charcoal.

As much as purists will say otherwise, grilling with gas is not so bad. If you want smoke flavour, I just use a smoke box. I do this a lot less now that I have a smoker though. I grill over the coals of a fire all the time. Last Saturday, it was pork tenderloin on a stick. It was very yummy. :D
