I'm a fan of those charcoal chimneys. Been using them for years. No more chemical residue for me. Use to burn them up in a season until I found the stainless steel ones. Those last forever.

I just got a photo text of the underside of a catfish saying "this fish sucks". Sometimes I feel like I did when I first met him and looked "askance" at his weirdness. .. See below Permagrin wrote in post #10753401 and so okay I'm looking at your link and then your photo...so you light the charcoal in this thing? then dump it out into the grill? After how long? Yes you use a little bit of paper in the bottom. It then doesn't taste like lighter fluid and is cleaner. It also gets the coal ready faster. You dump the coals in I dunno, 15 minutes or so. Just something we used to do when we were camping (when I was a child). As much as purists will say otherwise, grilling with gas is not so bad. If you want smoke flavour, I just use a smoke box. I do this a lot less now that I have a smoker though. I grill over the coals of a fire all the time. Last Saturday, it was pork tenderloin on a stick. It was very yummy. -JIM-
