Amikah is sleeping under my feet, Ginger is crashed under the table, and everyone else is locked outside rampaging. It's still cool, well... I mean it's not hot yet. Let them get their yayas out.Wade is having a really hard time with Montana's passing. Had another breakdown last night. It was so hard on him to be the one that found her, then have to be strong while I had my come aparts. I'm still grieving, but have moved on to remembering the happy times, and I can smile when I think of her. He hasn't gotten to that part yet, and it's really taking a toll on him. *sigh* It will be better once we get her ashes and have laid her to rest here with Cara. Thanks so much for your kind words, Deb. Some days are harder than others, and it's not always a picnic. Most of the time I love it, but sometimes.... I get tired. I'm tired right now. When my emotions are already weak, my shoulders aren't as strong as they should be. Isn't it amazing that animals can produce such strong feelings? Even those that we haven't necessarily bonded with can bring out emotions we wouldn't have for another human. I remember two incidents, one quite recent that I already told you about. We had a cat (Caesar aka 'Mr. Cat'). He developed FIPS (Feline Infectious Peritonitis) which is a fatal disease. We had to have him put down, after which we stood out in the parking lot of the vet's office and bawled like babies for a good 10 minutes. The other time was Cinderella, the German Shepherd who was so terribly abused by her former owner. I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

More info | Jul 29, 2010 10:32 | #1174 Cat, I hope you know that I have you and Wade in my thoughts daily. In fact, I mention your work at almost every opportunity. Yesterday, my co-worker mentioned a litter of pit crosses that her hubby bought (he has a buy/swap/sell place) from someone down and out. They have them at home and are fostering them, but will sell them at some point. It was really, REALLY hard not to lose my composure. I did, however, mention the number of pits that are put down due to irresponsible breeding. We had a good discussion, she did not realize some of the repercussions involved, especially for the dogs. Here is the clean up operation: Cleaning Dalian Harbour I wonder what the health effects are going to be on the people working on this clean up? They are COVERED with oil. That doesn't seem like the healthiest thing... - Kody

Sad situation there and on the Gulf. Well, I feel sorry for the wildlife in both cases. However with the oil spill in the gulf, the oil was from the bottom up, so a lot of it will have been dispersed by the currents - crude oil naturally seeps from the sea bed globally. So there is a light sheen at the top - nevertheless bad. In China, the spill was right onto the surface, that is worse at is pretty much blocks all light going down, and currents will struggle to disperse the oil.
