Have a Hoya 77mm CP - and yesterday, it has come off as 2 seperate pieces. One that is without the glass and has the groove that attaches to the lens and the other that has the glass!!

There is also a thin strip of metal that looks like a lining that seems to be removable - this was inside the groove of the first ring, and potentially something that should help hold these two pieces together....

Is this something that can be fixed or is it time for another CP??

Forgot to add that the groove is not a full ring but a wire that has two ends!!

Within warranty? If not, then insurance (not likely) or new one.

There are quite a few threads in here discussing this very problem, yet folks still go with Hoya polarizers. The cost advantage of saving a few dollars over that of buying a B+W up front is pretty much negated when you need to buy a replacement polarizer.

If its out of warranty, you're probably stuck with it. FWIW, certain Hoya polarizers are prone to coming apart unexpectedly...I'd recommend that you buy a B+W Kaesemann MRC polarizer. A little more expensive, but you won't have this problem.

Chances are the filter is not truly broken but merely disassembled. I am fairly certain that I could reassemble it, but not knowing precisely what it looks like I cannot tell you how here.
