This is my first and only successful dragonfly shoot this year; it seems like the dragonflies that used to frequent the ponds near my house have been thinned considerably by the large numbers of Blackbirds that have taken up residence in the trees (I witnessed no less than 2 dragonflies get eaten in as many minutes, and one of them I was shooting! :mad
.
I gave up after 15 minutes of finding nothing else and drove to the tiny protected pond at the local nature center to shoot these guys. There weren't too many, but it was a good day overall. I even had a big Canada darner land on my shoulder, which was a tiny bit intimidating before I stared it down and asked it aloud, "Wassup dude?"
All taken with my 40D, Sigma 150mm and 1.4x teleconverter, off-camera 430EX, and an inexpensive Vivitar Macroflash 5000 my Dad gave me.

The 2nd and 4th ones are probably a bit softer than they need to be; I'm not as patient nor anywhere as skilled as LordV when it comes to focus stacking, and I need my small apertures.
