you've probably got the hood on the wrong way, take it off, turn it another 1/4 then put it back on,
I've done it before make sure hte red dot is lined up

there are 4 sides to the hood 2 are longer you need the 2 longer sides 1/4 turn

Did you put the hood on correctly? I have no experience with the 35L, but it almost looks like something that's physically in the way of the image.

That's it! I just checked it and somehow it didn't turn all the way. Thanks so much.

LOL taking off the hood should be the first thing you do when you see enormous amount of vignetting.
Glad it fixed it!

This thread was funny, but it's definitely something that happens. Glad you got it worked out though.

Hehe, glad it was an easy fix. This same question comes up several times a year, so you're not the only one.

The next time you see it, you'll be able to say "ah-ha!" :)

It's really completely stupid on my part not to check that. I think part of the problem is because all my lenses have hoods on even when they are stored. Well I guess it's getting even more stupid to justify why I wasn't able to catch that. So, I'll just leave it on that :o But I am glad my gift to my wife is taking sharp pictures as it should.

Some tests @f1.4
