5Dc (Did post this before at 24L II thread)
I`m not really a big fan of shooting pictures of airplanes and I was curious how the 24L II would handle shooting it alone... (Seems like my all around lens then - It did work on tight spaces....)

Pls. check my link... Warning: Background music included :-)

The "problem" with using a VWA lens is the distortion of parts. You'll notice the wing looks very elongated in relation to the rest of the airframe. It appears nearly twice its actual span.

I'd rather see it shot with a slightly longer focal length (50mm) and from slightly farther back.

The processing may be appropriate for the aircraft but not the overall scene. There were no babies on mothers hips or little boys on Dad's shoulders anywhere near 8th Air Force bases in WWII.

As I said, just testing the lens plus and minuses. I never shot a plane before. The post processing was done to compliment the plane and not the surrounding. I was not trying to recreate the WWII scene, but to match the picture to the plane itself. The original pics are too modern looking and I don`t feel the connection with the plane...Thanks for looking anyway.

I appreciate the processing with the subject.

I also like the distortion of the plane. It made me look at the pic for a lot longer and held my attention. It's not like a documentary shot so why does it all need to be 'as in real life'?
If i wanted real life I'd get back to working and stop looking at all these awesome pics ;)

You'll find that if the subject has wings, I'll definitely have a look. ;)

Generally interesting shots, but I don't think that this one (external link) was improved by the extreme PP?

Thanks for the welcome... I did a bit of HDR and LR3 processing. I would love to just leave the post processing to HDR only, but It`s very modern looking and I could not connect to the plane`s history. I myself is not a fan of taking planes picture either. I wonder if those brave airmen and pilots would think and feel about the pictures? I guess they`ll drop bombs on me. :-)

I google`d Nine o Nine and heard it was made close to the ending of WWII, so did not really
go to the heat of the war. I`m just wondering why it shows 3 broken crosses on the side that means 3 German plane hits.... or is it 3 German sites hit by their bombs? Just curious ?
