Just wanting to check before ordering - is the Dell U2410 still considered the monitor of choice for photo editing (at that sort of price range)?

regards,

If you're a Dell fanboy, yes. But the HP LP2475w is still popular. And on your side of the pond, there may be an offering from LG that I'm not aware of.

I have never dealt with Dell or HP so not a 'Fanboy' of either but from everything I read from the UK, Dell UK have a very good customer services reputation whereas HP have not. This would seem to be the opposite of general opinion in the States.

I must admit I am very nervous about switching from my CRT but the 17" screen is very limiting. For every thing good I read about the Dell or HP there are other post which says they are poor for image editing - it hard to sort the wheat from the chaff !

I'll bet! A 17" CRT has the effective viewing area of a 14" LCD.

Hmm, if that's so then maybe I do not need anything as big as a 24" LCD. I think I may start looking at a 20" instead which I guess is going to give me a increase viewing area of around 50% which would suit me fine.

Sounds like you should review what the major monitor manufacturers are now offering as 20" is kind of "old school". Perhaps 22-23"?

Thanks for the suggestions... what makes me nervous about the HP monitor is the lack of a "no dead pixel" guarantee

I don't think there are many 20" 8-bit displays anymore. I think you'll be disappointed going from a CRT to a TN LCD.

"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.

Just unboxed it today after finally getting time to put together my desk and let me tell you. Nothing beats out 1920x1200

Except dual U2711 monitors @ 2560x1440 in landscape and portrait. ;) Kidding. I want dual U2410 monitors in my office.
