My monitor is a MAG INNVISION , 19" MODEL 900 (LT9776S) FLAT SCREEN built in 2003.
On-screen and prints look good to me, but I have nothing to compare it to. I'm wondering if I would see notable improvement with a new monitor ($500. max.).

I use a pretty good PC , 4G ram , with LR 2.6 and Photoshop CS4.

Thanks

For that budget you can get an excellent 24" LCD monitor. The Dell U2410 is one popular model. Or, you can get a 22"-23" monitor for for $350 or less. (Leaving you with enough to get a decent calibration device.) The NEC EA231wmi is an example.

You want to find a monitor which uses an IPS display panel. If the specs don't explicitly state that, don't buy it.

I would look at anything Samsung, all their monitors are excellent, and last. I have a 22in from them I bought 3.5 years ago, and it's still working like it was fresh out of the box.

I have a half dozen 22" Samsungs at my office and they too work like fresh out of the box... Extremely bright and with a bad blue color cast. Impossible to hardware calibrate.
