I'm looking for a wireless remote for my 7D and would greatly appreciate your thoughts and comments as to which one would do both a focus and shutter release and getting something that won't be more trouble than its worth ..... thank-you in advance for your assistance ...

POTN Shop, link at the top of the page. And you're looking for the N3 connector used on the 1D series, 20D, 30D, etc.

I bought that wireless remote from POTN several months ago and it worked for a while but now doesn't work with either the 7D or 5D. I changed all the batteries so that's not it. I don't know if I'd recommend it. I'm looking for something a little more reliable myself.

Thanks Prrs4me for the heads up with your experience with that remote ..... I certainly would like to get something that would function for more than a couple months ....

Is it possible to use a universal tv remote to activate the shutter release?

I've had the Yongnuo YN-128 for my 40D for a year or so and it's great - allows seperate focus/shutter release and works from a good distance too. And cost-wise it's pretty much a no brainer...very cheap.

I got 3 sets of the yongnuo rf602's, each consisting of a transmitter and 2 recievers. works great with one tx/rx combo for wireless remote on the 7D (and came with the cables), leaving a tx and some rx to trigger flashes, and some spares.

Works a treat

I've had mine for about a year and it still works flawlessly. Haven't even had to replace the batteries. Not to mention the fact that I'd rather deal with the POTN store than some HK ebay outfit.

I felt the same way. That's why I bought from POTN. However, as I said, I'm quite disappointed that it lasted less than a year. I just bought one from Amazon called Accessory Power. It seems to be better constructed and works great. Hopefully it will last longer than the last one. I like this one because it has a hot shoe connection too.
