I started a small computer business where i'm now doing photography lessons and print sales. I just created a new site in iWeb: http://www.mkstudios.comxa.com/MK_Studios/Home.html (external link). Please give some constructive criticism on how everything is laid out, if I should have more pictures, or content I should have added on there.

Every time I click on a link at the top menu, the background images reload. In your code, it looks like the images are located in different directories and therefore being loaded again...

Also, I'd prefer it if the tables were not images.

Lastly, have a small description for each photo. Perhaps, quickly explaining the technique you used, such as macro, low-light, high-speed...

Read my SEO link in my sig. It was for photographers, but you can apply that with any business. I would remove the 'Web Hosting' link, but I have a feeling you can't since this is a free template.

BTW, my brother, my dad and two uncles graduated from Penn State. :)

I actually googled myself, and it turns out i'm the 4th or 5th down on the first page, so I think that's pretty good overall, but i'll read up on the SEO in your sig. I never noticed the web hosting link on the site, and I actually created all this in iWeb, and FTP-ed it to the server. Maybe you were looking at my old site, the Webs one? I know that had a bunch of ads on there.

O yea, did they all go to State College? That's where i'm headed now in the Fall, I'm really looking forward to it.

I know for sure my dad and my uncles graduated at State College, but not 100% sure my brother went there. I know he went there at one of the "local" Penn State campuses, just can't remember if he spent the last few years at State. I left to CA before he graduated.

Good luck!

Like the site. great idea. I like the setup too its easy on the eyes. But yea the title and metatag should be a keyword. This alone could be enough to bump you into the 1 or 2 spot on the organics results.

Thanks, now what's a metatag, and how could I make that a keyword. Do you mean in terms of what to put into Google?

Don't worry about keywords in the sense of metadata keywords. Change your <title> tag to include where you are and what you do. You did read my SEO link, right? ;)

Oh, now I get it, i didn't read your SEO at first, :-)). Now I'm using iWeb to create the site, and I think Google is taking the first sentence on my Home page: "Welcome to MK Studios," as being my title tag. If I change that to something more useful, like "MK Studios - Photographer - Computer Technician" then maybe put "Welcome to MK Studios" after that, would that be good?

I'm not familiar with iWeb and not sure if you can have a different <title> tag then your first line of your home page, but yes, changing the title will help you in search engines. :)

Your pricing comparison is a bit strange and have never seen anyone have such a list. I suggest removing it, it clutters up your menu. Also there is no need to talk about the gear you "recommend". Let your photographs do the talking for you, the equipment used to make them are really irrelevant to prospective clients. Only other photo enthusiasts are interested in what brands you use.

Well, that price comparison thing is for my computer tech side of the business, and I was asked to put that u[By some of my past customers. I get a lot of hits form the recommendations as well, so i'm going to keep that. I'm more of a teacher than photographer, though I am trying to get my photos out there for selling.
