Where did you buy 70-200 2.8L IS Mrk II?

Hi all,

I had the mark I version before. Although my copy was a sharp one, I still wished it could be a just little sharper at 2.8 , the IS could be a little more effective and the color reproduction could be a lot better at f2.8 ( To me, this is the weakest link of the mrk I).

Now with the mark II, looks like my wishes come true...

Thus, I am pulling the trigger and getting this dream lens tomorrow. I plan to buy new online. Just want to see where you guys got yours from. Which site you will recommend?

I am in NYC so Adorama and B&H are not my best options for high price item like this.

Also a last minute check... Is there anything, good and bad, I should know about the lens before buying it? I have read many reviews and threads here and on other forums about the lens. I know there are a lot of happy owners. But anyone regret the purchase decision of this lens and why?

can't help you on where to buy since i got mine from a place in nyc, but you should look out for issues with decentering.

Thanks for the reminder, Anyone? Anyone purchase the lens lately, say in the past 2 months and still find the decentering issue? Anyone knows if the majority if the decentering reports associates with the earlier copies?

Well, I didnt get the lens, which is next on my list, but I did get my 5D Mark 2 for $2116 shipped using Bing and cashback from Comp Usa. I got about 15% back. It's $2,161.06 off adorama with bing cashback

Thanks. I know about the bing cash back and planning to use it to order too. BUt just can't find a truely nice deal even with the CB program given I am in NYC local.

I bought mine from a nice guy in Texas who owned it for 2 month but had to pay some bills. I love this lens.

You don't have to buy new stuff from NYC stores... Just gotta keep refreshing the Ebay listings and you'll find a great deal on a slightly used 70-200 II or from stores outside of NYC.

Tough call. I got some really great deals on Ebay. If you do your research, you should be relatively safe.

Ebay is all about dealing with reliable dealers for something like this. I've purchased mine through an Ebay trade and my MPE lens before that - I researched the trader (asked around forums) and dealt with the most popular (Kerso at "Flash Camera" on ebay for any UK people reading this thread). There are good legitimate dealers and shops on Ebay the key is finding them - if you don't for a highprice item I would be more willing to go to a reputable shop even if its costs a little more. (esp the case in the US as I have read of a lot of these Bait and Switch setups operating in the us)
