I don't put anything on anything. I take photos.
I don't decide who puts anything on anything. I take photos.

All I am saying is personally I would rather see these wheat pasted posters on the side of a building over a big blank grey wall that has already been covered by paint. If you don't thats cool. There is nothing I can do to stop urban art as a whole and there is nothing you can do. It is a occurring thing that isn't going anywhere any time soon.

Martin Luther illegally posted papers on the door of All Saints Church... He was excommunicated lol.

a521... What would you have wished on him? And better yet, what do you wish on the historians who reported this?

I'm an advocate for self expression and I can appreciate art in many forms but I can't help but think that these are nothing more than snapshots.
I've seen your other work and you have a lot of talent and I just feel like these types of photos are beneath you.

I am pretty sure it was what the papers were about that got him excommunicated ;)

and i think they were just reporters then not historians because it was happening in their time

Can I please get some critique and criticism on how this could be a stronger set of images? How can I improve if I am just told these look like snapshots? I am documenting something I want to cover and I want my images to be as strong as possible.

This so called "art" doesn't make millions of dollars for the artists, but cost tax payers and business owners, some barely making it millions of dollars to clean up this crap. Keep this $hit somewhere only you and your followers need to see it and appreciate it, and keep it of my streets.

This is a criminal act, it's why it's carried out in secret. Once you're in prison you can decorate yourselves and your cell any way you like, I'll even pay for it even.

i don't think jimmyhickey's photos are what most posters are...um, vocal about. it's the "artists" depicted in the photos that posters are vocal/angry about, not jimmyhickey. big difference.

like someone earlier said, it's photojournalism. one doesn't have to agree with what's depicted in a photo to appreciate the actual photo itself.

Regarding the photos, since you are shooting under the worst possible lights imaginable for photography, I would really like to see them as B&W with sightly brighter exposures. I think you could really capture some cool shadow/highlight contrasts, use the digital noise to your advantage and really make some great images.

Regarding the subjects being photographed, I would like to see the power boxes they are vandalizing be hooked up to live 440 and see how well they do hanging a wet piece of paper on them. Just remember to step down your aperture as the fireballs and burning flesh from 440 can be really, really bright but the smoke can really add to the overall image.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I am not a fan of assassinating political prisoners either but still think Eddie Adams' Viet Nam photo was one of the most powerful ever captured. The subject and the photographic capture are two totally different things and I admire a photographer who captures bad things in a great way. Keep pushing to tell all the stories, both good and bad.
