It was a frontal shot. Also, only his face was in clear focus (nice job by the way), so we can not even be positive that that huge patch of bushy stuff sticking up off of his shoulders looking like Sherwood Forest even was hair. He could have cut himself epaulettes out of 1970s era super-shag 9000 carpeting and stuck them on his shoulder for effect. Ever think of that?! Call me Al Gear Flickr
