Today was my first time out with the 300L f/4 IS :D

Getting a bit bummed at not seeing many critters, I made one final stop before heading to work. Thank goodness I did - found this guy hanging out within easy reach:

Incredible to be able to stand there and watch him at close range, nevermind being able to get photos like this. And the 300L - wow, what a dream it is to shoot with!

i really like the first shot - there are some very interesting textures going on their between the bird, the wood and the green lichen.

I'm going to go with #2 as my favorite (with a bit more room around the Heron). Looks like you got a great copy of that lens.
