Canon's just released firmware update 2.0.2 for the 20D. This fixes a problem with EOS Capture when the camera's set to RAW + JPEG (which occurs only with firmware 2.0.0) and includes all fixes released to date.

Just curious about this, but would I need to have 2.0.0 installed first if I'm at a lower version?

No, you wouldn't, but as 2.0.0 was released to support the wireless file transfer unit, and the problem 2.0.2 corrects didn't exist before 2.0.0, you probably don't need 2.0.2 any way.

That's good to know. I've never been a fan of "incremental" updates where you've got to have all the updates installed first, before you can get to the version you want.

I'm not in much need of the wireless transfer unit, so unless I start to hear lots of stories about 2.0.2 fixing issues with the grip, or that ERR 99's go away, I'll just sit tight.

I'm still on the pre-2.0 version IIRC, it works fine so I never bothered to upgrade. Is there any good reason to upgrade?

ONLY if you use EOS capture AND have v 2.00 installed. If you have V 1.11 and you use EOS capture, you can leave it alone. I think I have this right.

I take my laptop with my on site to shoot with EOS Capture. I was FORCED to shoot RAW ONLY or JPG ONLY because the program crashed when you did RAW+JPG...

This has fixed this problem, and im VERY happy it works!!!

Took me no longer than 5 min to upgrade firmware. Id recomend doing it.

They give out firmware updates for a reason, you might as well just do it, and keep you cameras software up to date.

Sure my computer with "Windows ME" or "Windows 98" "WORKS"... But why would you want to use it, if canon is giving you "Windows XP" for free...

Food for thought

Updated. It went alright...I was half expecting it to have a problem as it sat at 94% for a little longer than I liked. Now to see if the camera behaves itself any better...
