I never knew it was a lifelong passion of his.

Well that is interesting.

Unfortunatley- his work seems pretty boring to me, anyways.

He should never have given up his singing career (external link). I think he would have been up there with the Beatles, Stones and Elvis!

"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.

Honestly I think the photos need the backstory to make any sense of them. There's definitely a theme which isn't readily evident.

That being said, you don't have to be good to have a passion for something. On the other end of the scale, you don't have to have a passion for something you happen to be good at.

If he likes doing it, good for him. There's nothing wrong with having a hobby you thoroughly enjoy, even if you're terrible at it :D.

Yeah, but it's a conceptual thing. The images are displayed full sized, 1:1 relationship to the subject. It's not the photos themselves that are the art, it's the vision. He uses photography to realize it.

The statement he makes is not for me, either. But he may or may not be able to take better images. My guess is he's probably pretty good.

Well that would be a very logical conclusion.

I understand what he's trying to accomplish. And a lot of what he is doing is telling a story. Or at least getting a common theme within his galleries. That's great and all. It's good for a gallery showing.

However, the work looks like what some amateur home studios can put together/accomplish IMO. I'm not knocking him. I'm just not impressed.

Which is probably it's titled, "SLIDESHOW: Photographs from Secret Selves by Leonard Nimoy"? ;)

But what does that MEAN? The heck is "Secret Selves"?

If they're going to provide a title to the slideshow without a description it should at least be very readily evident what the photos are supposed to mean.

Are these supposed to represent "what people are on the inside" or something? Because if so some of these are really obscure.

Ok, so the shots in that link don't seem to impressive. But some of his other work is actually pretty good.

If you do a search you'll find several threads here at POTN talking about Nimoy's photography.

I was a huge fan of LN's back in the 70's, when he published poetry and photography in the same book. I still have those books. Looking at them as an adult, rather than a starry eyed adolescent, I have say " omg, they are awful". I mean, really bad. But if he's happy, more power to him. I think he's kinda artsy fartsy about his photography but not really talented.
