Samyang Rokinon Vivitar 14 2.8 lens

First day out with my Rokinon...

Now that I've got a good copy of this and have put it to real-world use, I couldn't be happier, and feel like I've practically stolen it for $329. I was concerned about color and contrast, given some of my previous experiences with off-brand lenses, but those are proving unfounded, for the most part. A few samples from the past three days of storm chasing:

Wow, not an easy feat with a manual focus lens and a moving animal! You nailed the eyes perfectly too!

This is pretty much straight out of camera, handheld at F8, 1/400s, set focus using liveview (set to about 10 feet on my lens).

I find the lens very nice, but the bottom right isn't quite as sharp as the other corners, but would you say this is acceptable?

$525nz which is almost identical I think. I would have gone for the 14L but, you know..

Really cool shot. If only he was looking up a little bit, then it'd look like he was breathing out the milky way!

I'm still torn between this lens or the 24mm... either one will have to come after a good portrait lens anyway though

Also, as an aside, thanks for your in-depth opinions on the 6D! Your advice in a large way swayed me to purchase mine and I'm loving the camera, I use it daily

Cheers, thats a selfie so its hard to judge positions and view in the pitch black, balance the sky, torch and flash!

I have the 24tse so I wont get another 24 prime I think.

New owner joining in. Been a fan of this lens since it was launched and the no-filter block kept me from buying it. Did it anyway.

The color reproduction, contrast and sharpness are blowing my mind.

Here's a quick test shot from today, focus is a little off in this one, but I have now figured out the sweet spots for this lens for hyperfocal (even though the distance scale doesn't seem to match at all).

Thanks to Thomas Berndt for the awesome Lens Profile. I was all set to purchase PTlens, but I no longer see the need!

f/2.8 SOOC except for a -0.5 on exposure in LR.

Also, if you gel the flash with a warming filter, and then lower the color temp in post, you could probably neutralize some of that light pollution...

Hoping to get out myself this evening if the clouds don't blow in...
