I don't know.. Your above two shots the stars are blown out, too noisy and over processed. I suggest you take two shots for this composition, expose one for the foreground and the stars and then blend them together although try retain a natural look.

Anyway, I just got my hands on this lens just a few days ago, f2.8 over f3.5 holds a significant difference in regards to this type of photography, very nice!

I'll have to find an interesting foreground object next time though
