Love this lens... but recently I've been noticing some problems with the focus scales not showing the correct focus distance...
For example, here's a shot of one of those lens test charts (may not be used correctly but it's something to focus on) at 70cm distance and 0.7m marked focus distance

Both shots have been cropped quite heavily - but... anyone have any ideas?

I don't have this lens, but have been following this thread closely, and have read lots about the lens other places.

It seems like this is actually the norm for this lens. Some people have made their own markings on the distance scale, or just have learned from experience about how far off it is.

There is a fairly easy way to fix the distance scale so that you don't have to make your own markings. My worked out of the box, so I never had to try this, but here is a video that shows how to do it:

I've gone for one of these to help with focus: http://www.ebay.com.au …ories&hash=item27c14ff5c9 (external link)

it's not arrived yet but it has decent reviews for the price so I'll see how it goes when it arrives.

Testing this lens. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong at night shots. All the shots under 500 ISO are dark'ish? doesn't matter if it's 20 sec / 30 sec shutter speed.

Set the aperture ring to infinity

Same settings, except I boosted the ISO

I would say you are just way underexposed.
Try larger aperture like f4-f8.
Try upping ISO to something like 1600-6400.
Or use bulb shutter release and let shutter be open for a few minutes.

Play with those settings and i think you will figure it out.

I cant use this lens on manual mode live view on my 6D. Tried it briefly, and would only get a black screen, however, it works fine on AV mode.

set your ISO to whatever (or Auto), and aperture on lens, and camera figures out the shutter speed needed.

I think that'll do. I didn't experiment much since I had to go eat. Test it on brother's kids.. It's tack sharp! Thanks

P.s: Regarding the lens profile thingy, I chose Canon's 14mm and it kind of worked. Distortion's gone.
