Eddie - you mentioned that live view gives you a proper exposure... so supposing you take a test shot in live view, wondering if that will "reset" the camera's "memory" and give you a proper exposure if you exit out of live view?

Still selling but if it doesn't sell I will get the af chip vinz.

Nikhil - it just seems that my 5d2 doesn't like not knowing what aperture I'm on even though others 5d2s work fine in this situation. When in live view it meters correctly. I've gave up with it now. Its in the box ready to post if it sells. Alreeeady selling it at a loss and then eBay fees will add to that loss

It probably won't cost you much to keep it for a year and sell it if you still don't like it.

OK decision made - keeping the lens.

Just purchased the dandelion chip which should cure my metering issue (Thanks Mike). I had a play about with the lens in the house last night and like others the distance scale markings are off but only slightly. It didnt take long to work out where I needed to set it for f/2.8 and f/5.6 to achieve sharp infinity focus so there shouldnt be any issues there. Also tested it in adobe lightroom and the profile I have corrects the distorsion nicely so that shouldnt be a problem either.

I when through a whole process there thinking that I was going to sell it and buy the 16-35II which would still be fast enough for milky way photography but could also take filters and would do me for hiking, but after a long and hard think about that I realised that I dont really need the 16-35 because if im going to be using filters then I will be using the TS-E 24.Also when hiking, the 14 will be just as good (once metering correctly) so decided to keep the lens and save paying out 3 times the money for a lens that doesnt give me much more and probably wouldnt get used fully due to my other lenses. Also the main reason I want the lens is for night photography and the 14 seems ideal for it with its sharpness across the frame and minimal coma. Im also going to visit Iceland at one point to (hopefully) see the aurora so I would have ended up buying this lens for that trip anyways!

Anyway should hopefully be posting pics soon - sorry for all the words in this sample thread :D

I've just got it at an indecent price for Black Friday (50% off !), that's obviously a lens to have. Pretty sharp (the one below is f/5.6), at 100% the interior of the car is very sharp. But for now, the reject rate is still quite high, manual focus is not easy :)

Sorry for the noise, Flickr is crap, the original is practically noise free :(
