Hi,

My apologies for asking these kind of basic questions. Got the Rokinon one (Canon mount) a few months back but due to some personal reason couldn't even try it. Please guide me on the following
1. How can exposure metering be done on this lens with 5D Mark ii ?
2. Which confirmation chip will be the best and how to fix that to the lens (I have no idea about the adaptors and/or chips).

Thanks in adavance.

on exposure the camera will take care of it as with any other lens - eg If you are using Av mode you set the aperture and the camera will choose the shutter speed depending on the scene andthe metering mode you have set in camera. Exposure compensation etc you set as desired as per normal. I can't advise on confirmation chip but frankly I dint think one is needed. You can either use live view to manually set focus for any landscape or tripod shots (usually best for accuracy anyway) or use the distance scale on the barrel. My distance scale isn't especially accurate, but it was easy to work out where I should set ut for best effect at different distances and aperture setting. If you're after front to back in focus just set the focus to aroun 2m and an aperture of f8/11 and you can't go too far wrong.

Thanks for the reply. In indoor low light condition (without tripod), I may want to use the lens in which case I would like to use 2.8 aperture. It will be difficult for me to ensure right focus. Won't the focus confirmation chip help in that scenario?

It might, depends on how accurate it is I guess and the others who have fitted the chip could better comment. But even then unless it's something you do a lot I'd just use live view.

Soo has anyone successfully created a profile for LR3 that corrects the mustache distortion?

Posted a few pages back:

I did it two days ago and my mind is already blanking out a bit.

download the file here:LINK (external link)

And save it into the folder shown on that link.

I did have to open the code in a text editor, and there is one "False" value in the entire code.. change it to true.

I then had to use it once in photoshop before it would show up in lightroom. now it shows up at the bottom of my canon lenses in lightroom :)

Yep, 3 shot HDR using LR/Enfuse. After that, brought it into Topaz Adjust for some additional tweaks. Glad to hear you guys liked the photos! Had a stressful week and figured that the best way to blow off steam was to go to the beach. Always helps that the beach is less than an hour away! :D

Finally got around to taking some pictures, really nice having the MFA 100 yards down the road...

Absolutely blown away with this lens now. Focus was tricky (dark, no AF confirm, no live view), but almost all are usable and at least half are just razor sharp from corner to corner.

I think this is one those lenses that "You get something that probably I won't". So lucky owners with good copy.
