Thanks Paul! To be honest, this was actually an accidental result of taking the lens out for a test along with my new intervelometer. After setting it up I went and sat down for a moment to relax - waking up 3 1/2 hours later to around 540 shots!

Jul 29, 2014 10:30 | #3911 Scrumhalf wrote in post #17061592 My humble contribution to this thread: My FIRST ever night sky shot. I was camping in Central Oregon under some of the darkest skies around and couldn't resist the urge to point the camera upward. I didn't really know what the heck I was doing - just set the ISO at 3200 and took 4 shots of 30 seconds each. Fortuitously, 30 seconds seems to be the limit for 14mm to not get star trails, so I lucked out. Stacked them in DSS. This is pretty much unedited except for brightness/contrast, so hopefully I'll be reading up the astro tutorials and maybe making the shot a bit better in post. Comments and advice from the astro experts are welcome and solicited! I'm no expert, but that looks great. The only thing You could try is too adjust the WB to give it a more blueish look. I like the blueish very much and i was going to say that, but i was worried he may not like that blueish or some members showing here telling that they like it this way and not blueish, so i didn't comment on his stars shot for adjusting to cool blueish look. It was completely unusable. I've since ordered two more and I tested them this weekend, all with the same issue. So another batch show up tomorrow as I hunt for a good copy. It's strange that I've had two previous copies of the gold-ring one and never had an issue. I'm disappointed that I'll be on my 5th one...hopefully one of them works out.
