I ordered one a few months back (red-ring version) to replace an older one that I dropped and one side of the image was soft when shooting the stars. It was completely unusable. I've since ordered two more and I tested them this weekend, all with the same issue. So another batch show up tomorrow as I hunt for a good copy. It's strange that I've had two previous copies of the gold-ring one and never had an issue. I'm disappointed that I'll be on my 5th one...hopefully one of them works out.

might be an adapter issue. I've read on lensrentals that corners get weaker on some adapted lenses. It's in roger's posting somewhere, the adapted lenses on the sony system are not all perfect.

I thought that as well but the rest of my lenses are perfect in the corners, even wide open. And the issue also varies with each copy; one lens will be soft on the left and a different copy will be soft on the right, etc. The issue seems specific to the multiple 14mm lenses that I've tied. I'll see how the next batch of 14's turn out.

Rick, even though your other lenses works fine adapted, did u know that ultra wide lenses are "super touchy" when it comes to adapters? You need a lot of luck to get nice results from an adapted UWA.

I tried two copies of the Samyang 14 on my A7R (EF-mount, adapted). Didn't work well, so I just bought the E-mount version. Works perfectly!

Hopefully I'll get a bit of that luck when I try these next two. And it wasn't just the corners that were off as it was a good 1/3rd of the frame. I guess I could just go for the e-mount but then I'd have to get another L-bracket since my current bracket is attached to my adapter. Maybe it'll just come down to home many times Amazon will let me return things, lol.

Wow, what happened to your 6D, Rick? I have been away from POTN for a while, so I probably missed it if you had posted about it.

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

I sold it in favor of the A7r and I couldn't be happier. Well, actually I could if it had GPS and slightly better battery life but the sensor is simply better than anything Canon has put out. I'm hoping to shoot the Milky Way over Mt. Rainier this weekend to break in the new 14's. Fingers crossed at least one of the copies is sufficient!

NIce, looking forward to it!

Here's something that hopefully you will critique for me... I took this on a Central Oregon camping trip near John Day.

Milky Way around Cygnus IIRC. Taken with the 6D and the Rokinon 14/2.8.. single 87 second shot on an iOPTRON Skytracker.

Just got a copy from Adorama. Hoping my copy is a keeper and look forward to trying to capture some interesting perspectives and images.

Thinking about issues i might get with this lens, can you please list the possible issues with this lens so i can test it for each issue?

Sometimes i feel i am happy with any lens i buy it until i come here and read people moaning about issues they have with their copies then i start to feel and think mine has issues too, i don't think i have all my lenses perfect without issues and you get issues only, so hope to know what issues are with this lens if you can tell?

Sharing some photos from my new job! :) Iron mining at LKAB in Sweden. My position is down at 600 - 1100 meters. Exciting work, well paid and lots of fun!

Ginga, your underground shots look like scenes out of some Sci-Fi movie. Great shots.

Great shots! But those images did show the one big "peeve" I have with this lens... The terrible starbursts! I wish they added one aperture blade to get nicer, 14-pt stars. Would help quite a bit!

I've thought the same thing! I'm tempted by the 16-35 F/4L just for the starbursts that it produces.
