If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

after reading through every single page, I gave in to temptation and just bought one today. First impressions:-

1. feels very solid for such a cheap lens
2. was not difficult to use even though this was the first manual lens I have ever owned, in fact it is fun to use manual aperture. (will be very open to future manual lens purchases in future)
3. pictures look as sharp if not sharper than my 24L. (I am not a pixel peeper and largest I have printed so far is 16" x 20")

I was contemplating between the 17-40, the 16-35 f2.8II and this lens and figured that the extra 2mm would come in handy given the fact I am using an APS-H sensor body and have not regretted.

Looking forward to putting it through its paces during my visit to Angkor Wat next month and contributing to this 'evil' thread. :-P

Thank you all for helping me make my decision.

Cheers!

Good choice and enjoy. The Samyang 24 is even better if you are looking for an additional lens

At that price point nothing can beat it, although I am looking on with interest to see how will the new sigma 12-24 f4 do. Though it costs quite a fair bit more.

Oh, so Sigma is bringing out 12-24 f4? i didn't know, so i must find a buyer to my old Sigma 12-24 mk1 so i can go to this one, i will forget about Sigma 12-24 mk2, but as always, i wait to see so more reviews, but i feel i will die in UWA side, hahahaha.
