All my gear is listed on my signature right now. I plan on getting a 430exII very soon. I really enjoy my 50mm 1.8 a lot more than my 15-85 because of the DOF. However, I find the 50mm to be a bit long IMO on my 1.6 crop. I am now considering the Sigma 30mm 1.4. If I do get the Sigma, should I keep my 15-85 still? I have a feeling that I will barely use the 15-85 once I get a 30mm. I really enjoy how the primes are so fast and can produce nice bokeh. I'll be heading to college in the fall and would prefer not having gear I might not use. What you guys think?

Do you think you can live without the 15-29mm that you would sacrifice? You would lose mainly on the wide end, so it all boils down to how much you make use of that range.

I switched to an all prime setup a while back, so I can only recommend it to you. :) Sure you are less flexible in terms of quickly changing focal length without changing your lens, but to me the higher IQ and extra low light capabilities are more than worth it.

Sell the 15-85, buy the 30mm (although I am not a fan of the Sigma rendering) and also take a look at the 85/1.8, 100/2.8 macro and 100/2. Good luck! :D

I actually am really considering to sell the 15-85. I got it for about retail and that can almost fund a Sigma 30mm 1.4 AND a Canon 85mm 1.8!
