I took a job this week with the express intention that I can burn through it and throw the money on some Einstines. I like what i see. But want to know how they really are. I know about some of the problems and the updated firmware.
But are you guys happy with them?
Would you buy them again if you had to do it over?
Would you buy more?

Good rehash of the info, but does not answer the question.

Am I happy?

Well, there are a couple of issues that if like PCB to address asides from the things that they are already addressing (heat + pw issues)

1) handle. I'd like pcb lights to have some sort of handle. Handles are so crucial when the whole thing gets so hot because of the modeling light.

2) stronger mount. I'd like to support a 7" octodome from photoflex. I'm scared that I'll have some issues because of the weight of the modifier.

3) a up and down cycle when cycling through the light options. (this would have to be a software thing and I doubt they'll make the change)

4) a ringlight version would be nice. I'd definitely buy that.

5) a better remote light system - waiting for pw to come up with a remote system.

That's all my concerns. The main one is the mount issue. I can't wait to have this issue addressed in v2. For now, I've ordered my third light. Waiting for pcb to ship it. I've got two, and for now, that should be plenty.

I gotta buy modifiers though.

I've got 2 days to decide if I want to purchase my fourth light. On august 1st, the price will increase to 499.99. So decide quick. Three lights is plenty, four would be overkill for the average Joe.

Marloon, when you mention fourth light do you mean 4th alienbee light or 4th Einstein?

fourth einstein. These einsteins, regardless of their short comings, are great lights for the money! I love how to color temperature is constant throughout the range.

I will ride these lights until I realize their shortcomings and limitations. When I get there, I will upgrade to something that I will find more suitable.

I have yet to find a case that will fit four einsteins. Last night, I decided to just have 3 einsteins for now. The 3rd will be the V2 and it will be shipped in september. Can't wait. I have also ordered 1 86" and 64" PLM. I wonder what that looks like ahhaa.

I think that's an inherent issue w/ the Balcar mount IMHO.
The only way to fix that is to get a speedring that has a socket for spigot. Mount the speedring+octa to your lightstand. Hang the light off the speedring. I wouldn't do it any other way w/ the Balcar mount...

For the little I've done with mine, I'm liking it. Add my voice to those with concern about the mount. If your ring isn't just right, that sucker will slip right off. I also like Marloon's comment about a handle. Still, it's a pretty darned good light for the money.
