I would buy a 7D or 5D TODAY if they had articulating LCD screens. Does anyone know when or if we will see this outstanding feature? I cannot believe Canon has waited this long. I wouldn't use it all the time and normally use the VF but for macro work and about 10% of my shots I want articulating LCD screens on my body.

Any info on this?

I found this but don't know how accurate this site is...

There are those of us that would specifically NOT buy a camera with an articulating screen.

and if you are talking about a prosumer level dslr the number who would not buy one would be comfortably in the majority, a fact that Canon is well aware of. In short you will never see one with an articulating LCD.

I could see it selling OK on a rebel series, though, to compete with the Sony models and D5000

Sorry, but no. IMHO, the Rebel series is in the perfect price range for a DSLR for all of us "weekend warriors". And, although Live View can be handy at times, if I want a camera with an articulating screen, I'll step back and buy a G11.

I don't understand why some are saying the semi-pro and pro series cameras will never have articulating screens. Why not have the option if it only adds a few MM to the overall thickness. Why would someone not want the option?

That said.....I ordered the 7D yesterday because I recognize that you guys are probably right.....the successor to the 7D or 5D MKII will probably not have an articulating screen. I might as well enjoy the features of the 7D NOW.

If Canon comes out with an articulating LCD on a camera as good as the 7D or 5D....I will sell my 7D and buy one.

I understand there are many people with this view. Why is this? Have you ever used one? Do you do much macro work or studio work? Why would you not want this option?

I just want to understand.....to each his own.

I'm also really curious why someone would be so against it.

articulating screens aren't on nikon's pro cameras.

it's just a gimmick to get sales from the point and shoot crowd.

If your going to say you are against it or it is a gimmick can you at least explain why you think so?

I'm still waiting for someone to explain the minus points of an articulating screen against the plus points.
