canon 55-250 IS vs tamron 70-300 DI LD Macro

hi everyone ....
i plan to buy one of those lenses , which one is better beetwen those lenses ?
anyone can give any suggestion ?
any comment would be appreciated ....

I would go with 55-250. It is sharp, colors are good and it is lite. Image stabilization works well. I have some very good shots with it (check birds folder on the link below). I think it is best value for the price.

thanks for your quick reply , yes i think so .... but don't you think tamron has a great body , i mean looks strong ....

The Tamron's an OK budget telephoto. The build is fairly good but it does extend out quite a bit at 300mm which makes it somewhat less robust than it might first appear (not to mention much easier to accidentally smack the end of the lens into something or someone). IS image stabilization can also be extremely useful on a telephoto, particularly a slower one - unless you plan on using a tripod or monopod - so I would tend to give IS more weight in the decision than the Tamron's apparent build. I don't think you can find better than the 55-250mm IS in this price class.

i'd rather have IS than a lens that looks strong...one will help your pictures...the other will just look beefier...

50mm more reach
Closer focussing - 1:2 magnification
f/5 at 250mm vs. f/5.6 with the Canon
Better build quality

Canon:
20mm wider
IS
Smaller filter thread - 58mm so filters are interchangeable between the kit lens

I can't speak for the Canon's image quality, but I have the Tamron and I'm rather impressed by it and the macro ability is great.

I have both.
Tamron:
You have to stop down to at least F8 for sharpness and fringe reduction.
Does well on a tripod. Macro is it's magic at F13-16 300mm.
Slow but accurate AF
Canon:
Much sharper and much less fringing wide open.
Get the canon unless macro is your thing.
