Any tips on shooting the Adirondacks?
My first time there.
I'll be in the Lake Placid area, seeing what I can dayhike to from Rt. 73.
Thanks in advance.

Landscapes, nature, waterfalls, mountains...
By my guidebook recon I'm off to Mt. Jo tomorrow.
After that some of the waterfalls in the Keene Valley sound good,
some goes for Mt. Baxter.
If I feel really strong Cascade on the last day...
I'd be glad to hear of anything I missed.

Don't forget the "small" stuff, such as rocks, bark, grasses, branches, flowers, leaves, bugs, water, reflections, clouds, acorns, etc....

Look in front of yourself, behind, left, and right. It is amazing how a few steps can change your perspective.

Good luck and have fun.

just a few of my thoughts...

a CPL, tripod and depending on if you want longer shots, a GND would be useful for you.

Plenty of hikes up the mountains - being in Lake Placid, you can go up (drive up if you do not have the time) Whiteface Mountain. Plenty of others around too. Mirror Lake is right there.

Oh and as mentioned above me, remember the smaller items. Also a rule of thirds can help with distinguishing the true depth of photos.

We got rain on and off all day today. So we went to Deer Brook Falls.
We went up through the gorge.
The humidity in the gorge was brutal; I was really overheating.
Took some hdr shots of the falls and some with a dark neutral density filter,
my first try at either on beautiful moving water.
I can't dl and process them here so I'll have to wait for the result.
The advice about watching for small things was very much to the point; little gems all over.
The idea of driving up Whiteface on our last day is a good one.
Thanks for your ideas.
