After a fun evening spent at Karekare beach doing sunset and strobist photos of my partner (http://www.williamspho​tography.co.nz …each-sunset-and-strobist/ (external link))

We decided to each shoot some star trails / long exposures.
I shot 62 frames / 30 seconds each / ISO 3200 with the 1DIII and 17-40L

And this is the result:

This was the first time I've ever tried such a thing - apart from long single exposures a few years ago.

I have some other ideas with better foregrounds, but will require a lot of patience and a better camera ;)

5DMk II for noise control.
