i was thinking about cropping it. i will try that and post my result in a little bit as i'm about to go shoot a concert! (and a darn street lamp made the glare)

Nice shot. Keep it up. I rarely get to see lightning one day I'll achive something sweet like this. Good job.

The 2nd shot looks like and sci-fi movie shot were something is coming from outer space ... or maybe I just watch too many movies

In addition to the above suggestions, I might also try to straighten them a bit. Looking at the roof lines it looks like the camera is tilted.
Keeping the camera level seems to be a problem I also have sometimes, but it can be straightened in PS.
