Unfortunately, because of the oppression of "the slayer of trolls" I am no longer allowed to express the truth on this forum.

However, this is a complaint about Canon. Just how insulting IS IT that you have bought a camera the likes of which is a 5Dmk, or a 7D, and you need a replacement charger, the LC-E6, and NO ONE anywhere seems to have this in stock.

(It seems not long ago that even batteries were an impossible item)

Printed manuals----Canon cannot supply a replacement printed manual for their 7D, and expect --with a straight face--that I carry my laptop around so I can view the pdf version!!

Over the years, I've spent 10's of thousands of dollars on mostly Canon gear, and this kind of situation is an insult to a customer.

In the case of the 7D, this is a body, which, with a "little accessories" is a $2000.00 investment. An investment which cannot be used without batteries and a charger.

Canon, if you are listening, this is what makes Nikon customers out of Canon customers

Sounds like someone found a fly in their cheerios this morning.

If you want to send me a PM, I'll show you how to print a PDF so you don't have to carry your laptop everywhere.

You need a replacement charger or manual only if you lose the original, which is included. If I lost my camera, I'd need a replacement for that too, but I don't reasonably expect any manufacturer to provide me a second one.

Well... if you go the route of the battery grip, you could just settle for 6x AA batteries instead of the proprietary canon battery/charger.

Honestly though, chargers are not difficult to find if you go with a generic on ebay--you can get a battery and charger for about $40, and they all claim to work perfectly with the 7d...

I suppose you could print a manual if you don't like reading electronically. Most electronics are moving that way.

I don't think he is asking for a free one. He is right that there is really no inventory for the battery chargers. Even the Canon estore is out.

I like having the PDF version, makes for easy viewing while at home or on the road...
I bought some after market 2 non branded batteries and charger for less then 50$.. They work great I can even charge my "canon" battery on el cheapo charger so I still only need to carry one charger.

I don't find the battery level reported by the camera to be of much use.. battery dies I change the battery..

I don't expect anything for free, but printing a pdf and getting it in the same handy format as the ORIGINAL POCKET MANUAL is an exercise in futility.

Also, I bought an aftermarket charger. I may post where this junker came from later (It's one of the "favorite" suppliers on this forum). It partially charged exactly one battery the first night out of the box, and DIED. This is a battery, by the way, supplied by the same company. Additionally, "Googling" around, I see some aftermarket chargers/ batteries do not seem to be compatible with Canon brand batteries/ chargers. THAT is not acceptable, either, to me

Canon USA happily sent me a replacement manual for my 40D when I had it. Maybe they just don't like you for some reason. It may be your attitude.

There is no excuse for not having chargers in stock.

Hey, we are just trying to offer solutions, but it seems you'd rather just get pissed off and yell instead of find a workaround.

If you bought a defective charger, then the company will most likely exchange it.

If you want a more compact manual, print it 2-up /double sided and fold it in the middle. No it is not as good as the original, but you can find solutions and get on with your life or I guess switch to Nikon where magical fairies attend to your every need and nothing ever goes wrong.

Can you also show us how to print it out in nice little 4" by 5 1/2" pages and bind them together - so that we can have a handy little booklet like the original? Who wants to try to jam a bunch of papers into their camera bag?

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".
