So folks, what film do you like?

For instance, I'm very fond of Ilford HP5 Plus ISO-400 B&W film.

Most of the film I like has been discontinued (e.g. Kodachrome, APX-25, APX-100 in 120). I do like Plus-X, Tri-X, Fuji Acros 100.

Fujifilm is my favorite in 35 mm, colors are good and the B&W film is excellent.

Canon 60D,18-55mm,55-250mm,50mm compact macro, AF ext tubes. Sigma 8-16mm uwa, 18-250mm, 85mm F1.4, 150-500mm

I'm an avid outdoors shooter and I love using films with super low ISO settings. The lower the better as there was less grain so you had better image quality when enlarging to bigger size prints.

Back in the day when I used to shoot film my preferred ones were:
* Kodak Panatomic-X B&W and if memory serves it was rated at ASA 25. (This was before the ISO standard took over and back then Kodak film came in little aluminum screw top containers and not the plastic pop top vials)

* Then the bastards in Rochester, NY discontinued my preferred film so I had to shoot either Plus-X or Tri-X. They could not leave that alone either eventually coming out with TMax 100, so I used that.

* When not shooting B&W I used Kodak Kodachrome 25 for transparency work. This, too, had to be replaced with K64 when the K25 was discontinued.

I used Fuji Velvia ISO 100 transparency towards the end of my film daze but, to my eye, the greens were just too saturated. So I used K64 throughout the year until autumn. Then I switched to Velvia - so that the little green that was around in autumn helped to give the image more POP with that overly green saturation Velvia film helping to bring a brown scene more to life.

Now I shoot digital exclusively and I maintain my EOS Elan II and EOS A2 film bodies in the top of the closet in case I ever get a wild hair to shoot film again.

Tri-X for black and white, never found another B&W film I really liked. Used it in all formats, 35mm, 120, and 4X5, just no other film as versatile.

Good photographers learn it is not what you are looking at, but what you see...............
Canon 6D with 24-105 L Main camera combo, 80-200L, 50 1.4, 85 1.8,
T2i, XTi, D30,D10,D60......and a whole buncha' lenses and stuff.

For 35mm I use tri-x and plus-x(Arista Premium). For 120 I use fomapan 100 and 400 (Arista EDU.Ultra). Freestyles house brand films are so cheap its awesome. I wish they had arista premium in 120!

When I could use it, Panatomic-X developed in Microdol-X. Practically grainless, but it had an ISO of 25. The rest of the time Tri-X.

My 35mm is loaded with Kodak's BW400CN. Might switch to something else now that I'm getting the gear to process the film at home.

My 645 backs are loaded with Velvia 50, Astia 100 and Acros (Neopan) 100.

I'd love a dollar for every sheet and roll of Tri-X I shot since 1975..

Fuji Neopan (Acros and 400), Pan F+; Xtol, Perceptol or Rodinol; Velvia, Ektar. Scan with Epson V500 and import into Aperture with metatags.

"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.
